Linkage out of adjustment? Was the green neutral light on?

I have also found out that if the light isn't on neutral then it isn't in neutral, it will still be on the last position it was.
I was in high then tried to get it in neutral and I know the shifter was there but the light wasn't on so it still thinks its in high.

are you talking about the rod going from my shifter to my engine case area? or the dashboard area ................ also when i have it in any gear it's always locked up i can push it backwards in neutral (so it says im in neutral) but its hard as hell to move that and now when i get it started when i try and give it gas it stalls me out every time but it will idle fine

any pointers....im to my last nerve about time to take it to the dealership at last resort

thanks
