Default polaris sportsman 800

Have a dumb question, Today I was out playing in the mud on my sportsman 800 that I won and buried it pretty bad, while I was spinning in the mud a big cloud of smoke came out from my belt is this common? I also hear it slapping once in a while, not loud very faint when I'm slowing down. The machine only has about 35 miles on it. I have ridden hondas all my life so polaris is new to me not sure of the different problems or noises it might make any info would be great

it sounds like you smoked the belt and maybe even did damage to it. if its brand new take it back to the dealership. if playing in deep mud like that you should be using low range to prevent belt slippage. imo.

yup sounds like a smoked belt, i agree with stendori when playing in mud should always be in low even though the power is there the belt will slip and get wrecked

That slapping your hearing is the belt coming apart and hitting the clutch cover housing.
