New to me 2005 Sportsman 700
#1
I just bought this wheeler last week and have some questions about it. First it seems to make alot of noise (rattling?) from the engine area? Any ideas? Also alot of rattling from the rear rack...any way to quiet this? Does anyone make an aftermarket muffler for this? I love the way the twin sounds but I think it could sound even better. If they are available, any suggestions where to buy one? Any suggestions on a clutch kit? Are they worth the money? Any other tips or tricks for this machine would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The rattling is most likely normal Polaris drive line noise.
The rear rack rattle I took care of by putting some thin foam around the support mount in back & remounting rack.
Aaen, HSP make exhaust for this and also clutching. Wheter they help I have heard both ways but have no personal exp.

Ditto on the foam on the rear rack. That's usually the biggest issue. Other rattles are normal unless you're getting them once you get moving. Check for any other loose parts like where the footwells connect to the fenders. Any loose screws there will rattle like crazy!

Paint it green and stick another 8 on it. It'll be fine!
Seriously, make sure all of the plastic rivets are in place and that they haven't pulled out of the bodywork. I had that problem on the '99 Xplorer. Looked normal but the plastic would vibrate and make a horrible noise. Also check springs on the exhaust.
