2001 Rancher es 4x4 Unable to shift into reverse again!
#1
Okay this is stating to get really old really quick! Figured out that the orginal problem of not being able to electronically shift into reverse was caused by a bad reverse switch. So I simply bypassed it, by grounding out the switch and the electronic shift was working again. So I figured I would test it out and took it out into the back 5 acres of the property and went through some mud and had a little fun with it finally. Shifted in and out reverse with no problems, so I thought the problem was fixed. Well I was wrong, now the electronic shift won't shift into reverse again, I can here the shift motor trying to shift but its unable to, and if I manually attempt to the lever moves easily enough, however it will not shift into reverse. All other gears work fine, just no reverse again. I saw that on another post someone mentioned there rancher being stuck in a gear and it was the shift plate that was the problem. Could this be my problem or maybe my reverse switch jambing something up. Seems I'm having the worst luck with my new toy..

I'm not really sure what that is. I did adjust up the brakes and blead the front brakes, can't imagine that would have anything to do with it, but I figured I would throw it out there.

If you adjusted the rear brakes up then when you press the red reverse button and squeeze the brake lever you may have to squeeze the lever harder now to get the bike to shift into reverse ...

Dhh- I didn't have a clue that I needed to push that button down to get it into reverse, well that did the trick.. Glad you're here to help.. Thanks for everything I owe you one.
