How do I access the belt area of my Grizzly? I want to see what is causing my belt to slip. I had it in to the dealer who had to replace all of the seals because of oil, but the thing is slipping now more than ever.
Has anyone else had a problem with this?
Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

 

For one i have a 2000 grizz, and i have had it float with no problems and also have hit 8 inch puddles at around 35mph with no problems.
Now for your problem DO NOT TOUCH IT. Bring it back to the dealer especially when it is under warranty. If you open it up and you screw something up, you could VOID your warranty. It is up to them to fix it properly, there is something wrong, that is not normal unless you berried it up to the handle bars.

What seals are you talking about that you had replaced? How does your grizz act when the belt is slipping?

Apparently there are 3 or 4 shafts that enter into the belt area and each one has a seal on it to prevent oil leakage into that area. I had my Grizz in for service and the tech noticed the belt was slipping (I couldn't tell) and he opened it up and found oil in it.
You can tell the belt is slipping because acceleration and top speed are affected. I can also smell it on some occasions.
Prior to having it serviced acceleration was great and you had to be careful when slamming the throttle. My top speed was somewhere around 53mph.
Now when you smash the throttle it still goes just not as quickly, top speed now is about 44mph.
I dont think I have ever had this thing when the belt wasnt slipping and am interested to see what it does when we get this bug worked out.

 

I have a 2001 Grizzly and had the same problem at 300 kms. I hope this isn't a recurring problem I don't want to have to do that repair by myself. Has anyone else with a 2001 grizzly had this problem?

 

I've got about 600 miles on mine now, and I haven't had any problems at all. I put the 27" Titan 589's on mine about 100 miles ago. It lost alittle on top after that. But its not slipping the belt at all.

I just bought the yamaha manual for the grizzley,I can scan instructions if you want?
I went into yamaha to get some oil today and they said not to use synthic oil because it can cause the belt to slip.Apperently if the seals leak a little it can get on the belt and maybe not wear off as fast as oil.Even though the clutch does'nt ride in the oil.Made no since to me but that is what he said.
Ihave a 98 grizzley with 1300 miles and no slipping that i know of.
