Hi all,
I have "my" website, and wanted to post some cool pics that I shot at last year's Gran American race in Mid Ohio. I have pics of great looking (read expensive) cars or trucks...but since I'm not the owner, I don't know if I can put them on my site. Maybe the owner didn't want to see his car on the web and he could cause me troubles...that I don't want. Si what's the law regarding this, if anyone kow.

Thanks.

I know if I put nude pics of my girlfriend on my site I'd be facing charges if I did'nt have written permission from her.LOL.

If you can get permission from him I sure he'll have no problem with you posting the pics on your site.

Really I don't think theres any laws dealing with that, I see sites with pics on them and then I go to another site and there are the same pics.

Place them up there anyway. Just put a "fine print line" at the bottom of the page that say something to the effect of "If your picture is here and would like credit for it or have it removed, email me."
Idoubt anyone would care. I would be proud to have my car on anothers page....it means someone else must like it as much as me.

Yeah, just put something like "all information contained in this site has been collected off the free internet, if you are the publisher or hold a copyright and would like anything removed please email and it will be removed immediatley" something along those lines....

While I'm no lawyer, I believe using copyrighted material without the copyright owner's permission is illegal. If not, the value of a copyright appears questionable.

If a picture, copyrighted or not, belongs to someone else, you should have the owner's permission to put their picture up (and, other posts on this topic notwithstanding, BEFORE you put it up), and you should acknowledge the source ("John Doe photo").

While I am not sure of the legal implications of using another's non-copyrighted work without their knowledge and permission, or without attribution, common sense and responsible ethics indicate you should not use another's work without the owner's permission, and you should provide proper credit.

Otherwise, putting up another's work and representing it as your own is plagiarism at best, and theft of intellectual property at worst. Invasion of privacy issues may also be involved in some cases.

Now, CAN you use another's picture without permission and get away with it? Possibly, but that doesn't make it right.

No no...I shot the pics...I'm not using someone else's pics.
Anyway, I'll put the little sentence at the end "email me...blablabla".
I too would be *uckin proud to have my car on the web by someone else, but human nature is sometimes surprising...
There are no copyrights about the pictures...I guess I can post them without any trouble.
Expect some Corvette/Mustang/Porsche911/Ferrari456/F350/killermotorhomes/Ferrari333SP soon on my site...and if I have enough disk space, the best pics in wallpaper format (1024x768).

Thanks guys!

If YOU took pictures of cars at a public event, like a race, fear not! No problemo!

One thing I would do would be to blank out all of those licsene plates. Just my input. I see people blank out theres for a sense of secuirity. I would do this especially if it isnt your cars.
