I have been looking at all the ATV's and have finally decided on the 2001 AC 400 4X4. My local dealer quoted me a price of 5,499.00 + tax.
Can anyone out there give me the MSRP and dealer invoice price with this info I feel I'll be able to negotiate some on the price and maybe get a good deal.
Also I would like to hear from any of you that own a Cat 400 4x4, tell me what you like and dislike about it.
I would appreciate any info.

 

I think 5499 is $100 above MSRP or right at MSRP. If he don't want to bargain with you don't buy there. MSRP is VERY high for a finial selling price. MOst dealers sell them atleast 200 bellow msrp threw as much as 800 below msrp from what I have seen.

I have no idea about the dealer invoice price.

 

Around here they are anywhere from $4899 to $5099. Make sure to shop around.

 

The 400 will be an excellent choice. I agree shop around for the best price. Dealer ship in Trego WI.,selling at $5219 tax title ect.& with warn 2k winch kit installed. Best of luck.I'll be picking my CAT up in May.

 

I have a 2000 400 4x4. I paid $6700.00 CDN, which is about $4500 US. I am told that the prices went up slightly in 2001. Dealer cost would be around $4200 US.
maybe a little less. I have had the bike for almost a year and it is great. The only two complaints I have are noisy clutch and stock tires are useless. I have listened to lots of new 400/500 manual shift bikes as the dealer was taking them out of the crates. A lot of them have noisy clutches right out of the box. Most dealers will tell you that they have heard this complaint before, but none that I have talked to have ever replaced a clutch. My dealer has bikes in the field with as much as 6000 miles on them.

I have had my 400 for about 4 months I paid $5400 with a 2k warn (no installation), but not a prob. it only takes a couple of hours.
I am very happy with mine, never been in a situation where I was under powered, and really never had the need for low gear except for pullin out a Polaris or 6.
I use mine for recreation mostly but also work it from time to time pullin logs around on the mountain, I think you will be happy with your new machine.

Thanks for all the info it was very helpfull. My local dealer would not budge an inch on the price of 5499.00 + tax So I checked another dealer and found out he was over stocked and was selling all Cats for cost + 100.00 + tax = 4705.50. And this was not a one day only sale he said he has 10 of the 400 4X4's and they would remain at this price until they were all gone. So I'll be picking mine up next Saturday. I would still like to here from any of you out there that have a 400 4X4.
