Default water problem

my friends arctic cat 250 shut off in a creek this past weekend and the water was up over the exhaust. I got him pulled out and it started right up but will only idle. When you go to give it gas it stalls out. We tried letting it run for awhile to dry any water up but still doens't work. Any ideas?

Sounds like water in the carburetor - try draining the carb bowl and see if it runs any better. You may even have to remove the carb bowl to get all the water/trash out.
