I had my cylinder checked and found out that the cylinder needs to be bored out. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]I have ordered and received my new piston (looks good). the shop suggested I (hope I am saying this correctly) go up two. What I am looking at is a Wiseco 536mo7300, the rings state 73mm. Along with that I got a new top end bearing, and a Winderosa top end gasket kit.

With all that being said, do I need anything else to put this back together again once I receive my cylinder back. On a side note the mechanic checked my lower end and said I am good to go.

Another question I have is, does anyone have any ideas as to what I can use, instead of the stock rubber motor mounts. I am trying to keep my cost down and if i do not have to buy stock parts and I can fabricate a couple I would. I thought about drilling out and shaping a hockey puck;(OK OK I'm Canadian and hockey pucks are a dime a dozen). I think the rubber on a hockey puck is to hard. Any Ideas would be great.

 

How bad are your mounts?I may have some old ones around.

 

Non existent, When I got the ATV they didn't have the motor mounted to the top and the front mount was so twisted I had to cut through to get my lower end off. The rear mount is in good shape.

 

Let me look this weekend I will see if I have one.

 

My first bike was a 1988 polaris trailboss and like yourself when I received the bike it was a rolling frame and a milk crate full of motor parts. Good news for you is that most parts from the trailboss model are interchangeable from 1985/86 up to 1990. I know how you feel when you say you are trying to keep the cost down but I would try and get some good used or if you have to new stock motor mounts. not only will it create a more comfortable ride but it will keep the vibration low which is healthier for the motor itself.
Got to tell you though when you are finished with the bike. if it is done right. it will run like a S.O.B. I can't kill that thing if I tried.
If need be. (just a suggestion) if your oil pump is a issue ( $ 380.00) you can plug it off and just mix your gas. that is what I did 4 years ago and the bike still runs just as strong today as when I first rebuilt it.
