Best child starter quad?
#1
My daughter is 6yrs old and always asks about me getting her a quad to ride with me when I go. She is small and weighs about 45lbs. I was thinking maybe a used Suzuki lt50 or a Kawasaki 50 would be the right thing to get her. I would prefer to get a Honda TRX90 but I know it would be to big for her right now. I dont want any off brands, been down that nightmare once before. What do you guys recommend? Thanks

BOUGHT THE Arctic Cat 70cc . Took it back three days later.. Just did not like it.
Down at sand creek this past weekend a guy was there on his 800Canam and his daughters 50 Polaris was 1 1/2 yrs old & ran like a scalded dog.. 6 yrs old & very small little girl even for 6. He had the throttle cut back with the screw by the throttle, to about half throttle maxz. That little girl rode it like she stole it. The only thing I would like is remote control kill switch. Didn.t have one.

My neighbor has an lt50 that has been passed to 3 kids in a row now and it still works perfect..........and kid #4 is in line for it next......he also has a trx90 which is his next step up for the kids......that one is only two years old but still looks like it is new....... his two older boys are NOT really easy on their machines either.......
I think the most important part is that you've already picked the right machine by professing that you don't want to buy an off brand.......any of the major brands are good, they have all really upped their quality control on the minis in recent years........ they want to hook you into their brand early, and they hope you buy for life........

My kids all grew up on the LT80, if you can find one. It is 2-stroke, not to big or heavy, and has lots of motor so it is something they can grow into (use the throtle restrictor to keep things under control, until they are older and more skilled).
Everybody I know puts on wheel spacers or wider tires for more stability.

Thanks for the help guys. Was there any difference in the 2 stroke motor between the 80' lt50 up to when they changed to 4 stroke? I know the body changed along with the addition of suspension but was it the same motor between all those years? Thanks.

My 5yr old son rides a yamaha grizz;ey 80. He's 50 lbs and about 4' tall. We set the govenor for 6 mph and it perfect for him. My dad bought it for my nephew who has since outgrown it, so all the kids in the family are learning on that one. We haven't had a single problem with it.

I think the Honda 90 will be a bit to big for your girl, but agree with reconranger that you should look into the Suzuki LT80. The Suzuki 50 is a bit down on power, it would work great for the back yard but will need help if you intend to trailride. E-ton and now Can-Am both have 70's now, which is a more age appropriate machine. The E-Ton is a good fit for most kids to small for the TRX 90.
