hi guys, wondering if anyone knows what 13 flashes mean on 07 foreman 500 es, i have a manual on order but gonna take a few weeks, i found the first 12 on this site but no more

There was/is a re-call on the wire harness / TP sensor for the TRX500FE/FM depending on serial number .. You should check with your dealer..

Thanx sooooo much HondaMechanic, i pulled apart every single plug on this thing cleaned it dielectric greased..................except the tp plug on the carb, cleaned it.................no flash!!!!

 

I have installed a new carb and placed the TP sensor in the exact location as the original. My 2007 still doesn't move...grrrr I can touch the connector and get the green N light to come on and then the 13 flashes show up. I did purchase an online manual. I hope it helps. I wonder if I have to purchase a new shift and start assembly???

 

I don't have the 500 Manual so don't know what 13 flashes is either but if you have to touch "the connector" in order to get something to happen, it is not connecting properly. So fix that. Quite often you have to do a system reset when fitting throttle position sensors, you certainly do on 420s. Your manual will tel you if and how to do it. Do not start substituting bits, you will end up spending a fortune and, if it is a faulty wire or connection, still no working bike. If you can't fix it yourself, take it to a Honda dealer. They know all the usual faults and, if all else fails, can do substitution without spending money, as the new bits go back on the shelf if fitting them doesn't fix it.

 

Well turns out that I didn't have the ends plugged in tight enough. So the 13 flashes are for the TPS. I've made slight adjustments with no change. The gear select still doesn't function. The plug ends are so very hard to remove to even look at any of the connectors. I was able to purchase a manual on line. It's filled with lots of information, but way over my pay grade....

 

If you have sorted the code 13 and are now not getting codes, that narrows things down. Did you check if you have to do a system reset after fitting a new TPS? Usually, if the motor brushes are worn you will get a code because it has tried to change gear and failed. Same with a faulty angle sensor. However if the shift buttons are not working, the computer doesn't know you have tried to change, so no code comes up.

 

Yet still I've not sorted the codes out. I did however try to pull the ATV up my hill at the house backwards and seen 4 brown fuel spots...can't figure that out being that the fuel issue had been gone thru????
