Starting problems Scrambler - Relay Clicks starter doesn't spin just a high pitch wine
#1
The battery is fully charged. Terminals clean. Also cleaned the starter ends. Relay clicks and I can hear a high pitch wine at the starter.
Bad starter?
Corroded power and/or ground cables preventing amp flow?

did you bypass the solnoide(relay) to see if the starter would kick over? do this so you can elimnate the solnoide as the issue. the starter may need to be cleaaned or rebuilt as well.

Relay was replaced. But I will try your tip of bypassing the relay. Just for a clear tip - can I just place a jumper wire or screwdriver across the relay tips?

If starter working, can hear whine as you say, possibly bendix sticking and not engaging flywheel. Just remove recoil cover, wiggle bendix out and check/clean replace if necessary.

loosen up the starter spin it until it will start the motor and then tighten it up, but not too much. That will do it, have seen that on some starters before.

Starter doesn't spin. I can hear the high pitch electrial type buzz. A local tech told me it was probably the starter.

Just use test light to see if power going to starter,if is then starter bad and solenoid ok. BUT still good idea to check bendix! A little extra work, but can be bad also or locking up starter. Have seen this happen. Good luck
