Outlaw 525 jetting
#1
Just got an 08 Outlaw 525s. I love it, but the jetting has me a little confused. In the manual it states that stock jetting is good to 6000', (billings is right around 3000) but I have a nasty off idle stumble and a loud popping under decel. Question: Is it possible to simply move the clip to get rid of the small problems? I don't really "need" more power, as this thing is a monster!
Since I mentioned power, I noticed the airbox kinda sucks on this thing, does anyone make a decent filter for this Quad? Is anyone opening the airbox? suggestions? It looks like it would benefit quite a bit to open up the airbox.
thanks!

did you search under outlaw 525? EHS makes the best fix for the air box as well as K&N makes a filter and get the filter cover (which ever) if you do a search you will see what everyone recommends for the jetting and how to set it up. I dont have the information if front of me but it is the JD jet kit and it is suppose to be easy to install.

just a little update, I have heard again and again how lean these bikes are from the factory, so I spoke with a ktm tech (a customer of mine) and he said go ahead and turn the fuel screw out a turn, and if the problem gets better you know you're lean, BUT it got WORSE, so I turned it in a half turn from stock (now it's 1.25 out) and the quad is much more rideable. Seems like my outlaw was actuall RICH, I wondered how, so I called the dealer and spoke with a tech and he said they got some 08 Outlaws with a 158 instead of the 138. I didn't take the jet out to check but I wonder if that was the case with mine as well. Oh well, it runs great now, St. Anthony Sand Dunes here i come!!

Huh, thats crazy. I used the JD jetting kit on my 525IRS. 165 Main, red needle 5th clip and I still seem a little lean. The big oring in the kit really got rid of that stumble for me though. I have an EHS lid like the other guy mentioned, but I don't know if they make it for the straight axle Outlaws or not, I have heard their airbox's suck though.
