i got water in the crankcase. i have changed the oil and filter twice. is there anything short of tearing it down that can be done to get the water out??

 

You have to pull the spark plug to clear water from the top of the piston. Next tip the bike on its rear tires to drain the exhaust. You will have to do 5 or more oil changes in total to get the water out of the motor. I use cheap ATV approved oil for this, drain, refill then run the engine 10 minuites or so to let the engine heat up. I dont rev or move the bike on the first 2 changes, but I'll go for a little run between the rest to get the oil circulating. On the last change (when the oil stays clear after running the engine for awhile) I do one last change switching back to my normal Honda Synthetic oil and install a new filter at that time.

You should not have to tear down your motor, water may shorten the life of the Auto tranny, or cause the motor to smoke earlier then normal (still a long ways away) but thats about all.

 

thanks for the scooop. i actually did this over the weekend and after the 4th change the oil finally cleared up. i am now doing the 5th going back to some good oil and a new filter. a bit of a pain, but way better than a tear down.
