Default Sportsman 500

I just bought my first polaris. Its a 2002 sportsman 500. Its a well taken care of quad but for some reason the clutch doesnt disengage at times. Usually happens when im riding in the woods or just around the yard. Ive tried it in both high and low range but i still have the same outcome. When it happens the quad just keeps trying to putt along until it finally stahls out, if I try to shift into nuetral I really have to pull hard and if I try to put it back in gear it grinds. This doesnt happen all the time, but it does happen often. Do I need a new clutch? Any advice would be great! Thanks

You need to pull the clutch housing off and look at the belt and it's range of motion when you rev the engine. Might be the one way bushing(ebs) in the primary clutch has like fiber washers that can wear out and cause it to keep pulling when you let off the gas. It also could be a bad belt, broken engine mount, out of alignment. Good luck!

Sounds like the EBS washers are shot , you have to dis assemble the clutch to replace them and that requires special tools.
