Hi,

I live in Phoenix AZ and store my quad in the garage over the summer months. It's just too darn hot to ride in the summer here in the desert...112 - 116 is just way too hot unless I go north to the mountains.

Anyway the gas went bad in the tank. I drained the bad gas, replaced the fuel filter and re-fueled with fresh gas but can't get it started. When I spray starting fluid in the intake it runs for a few seconds which tells me it's getting spark and the electrical checks out okay. But when I disconnect the gas line from the injector no gas is present. I'm thinking it's the fuel pump.

Can someone tell me when the pump is located, how to access it and how to diagnose it? I would much appreciate it.

Thanks,
John

Does anyone know if just the pump can be replaced? As far as I know there is not a shut off valve so if there is one it would not be shut off.

Pump is in tank,do you hear pump priming up when key turned on? If no gas at fuel rail when line disconnected and engine turned over then can possibly be faulty pump.

Can the pump be replaced without the entire tank being replaced?

I do hear the pump prime when I turn the key but no gas at fuel rail.

Check the screen on the fuel pump inside the tank,it could be clogged. If your pump is shot there is some aftermarket ones available.Airtex E8198 or Carter E7000.I believe they use a different pickup hose so you may have to use the factory one.
