Default 87 warrior engine upgrades

ok so i have an 87 warrior that runs great, pull starts on firts pull, electric start is great just wanted to test pull start in case of need.

the real reason for this post is i wanted advised on how to ramp things up a little with minimal money. I wont be draggin with the wheeler but use it for trail riding and a lil fun on some jumps or stunting and wouldnt mind a lil more ummph.

I plan on purchasing the stage 1 hot cams and looked into the bore kit seeing as i couldnt find a jet kit for my year machine. I am not exactly machanically inclined but i am no incompetint person either. I dont want to sink alot into the machine just want to make it a very reliable engine with enough to keep me up with other machines until i upgrade (and once i upgrade this will need to keep up with what i have for anyone who will be riding with me). I am rebuilding the a-arm (already lost a ball joint) and the tie rods look to be in good shape and i will probably do a minimal suspension upgrade (still looking to see what other models suspension will fit).

Any hints/tips or advice for replacement parts or upgrades would be appreciated. i did do some searches and have a small list started for the winter.

Thank you all in advance.

If I were you I would look into the Webcam (webcamshafts.com) .430" 84 grind cam. It will really wake things up more than the Hotcam. The only drawback is there is a core return, which only means there will be some down time, or you could pay the core charge and send in the old cam to get the charge back with no down time.

The JE 10.5:1 piston works great. You can get it as big as a 366cc, but if I were you I would only bore it .20" over instead of boring it all the way .80" over to the 366cc. The compression and weight difference is where all the power will come from anyway. Then you will have room later to bore if necesary.

thank you
and downtime wont be an issue due to working on it during the winter season and not having much time to toy around in the snow due to career and going back to school. I will look into that and add it to my little list of restoration. I have seen some beautifully restored 87 warriors and i wouldnt mind adding mine to that list.

Just wanna start with mechanical things now and will work on bling and looks later.

and are the titanium retainer kits that much better than the aluminum?? obvious strength differences but is it worth the $30? I am definitely looking for longevity and reliability with what i do.

Yes if you want longetivity, titanium is the way to go. Dropping a valve will ruin the top end and you'll have to start all over
