800 sportsman doesn't run properly after washing
#1
If I drive through a small bond fast or if I wash my Polaris 800 sportsman ( 2007) gently with the power washer I get proplems with the engine. It will not take more than about 4000rpm and when I give more gas it just says "booomn". Engine allso stops if I leave it going on the iddle. The problem goes away when the ATV is parked for a day. I guess water gets in to a wrong place...??
Does anybody know where the sencitive place is? What should I do about it? Seal it?

welcome to the forum juha,if you buy some dielectric grease and pull your electrical connectors apart make sure they are not corroded, clean, then put in the grease.of course also look good at your wiring, especially i hear under stuff. you might want to disconnect thr ground first.this should waterresist your connectors for awhile.

I had the same issue on my 07 800. I took all the plastic's off and disconnected every connector and used dielectric grease on them. I also wrapped electrical tape around all of the wire loom, that plastic junk stuff they put around the wiring. Mud and water get's in the loom, therfore, it will hold water and dirt making the wire in the loom ware the insulation off causing a short. It is time consuming, but I have had no problem's since. Hope this help's.

i would agree for sure its got to be a connection that isnt very good.check all the grounds as well as the connections w/ the dieletric grease. it stops the problems.

"i've had this same problem on my 800 and tryed everything in the book....what you have to do is loosen up your coil, bolted to frame, under gastank on the drivers side...than place a piece of rubber or plastic between the frame and the coil..promblem fixed
If that dosnt work by chance, wait till night or in a dark garage and spray water one all eletricial parts till you see your spark jumping...."
I think I will try this when I get time off next time.
Other question: do you think everything is fine about the fuel consuption, I can drive only about 100km per 15liters of fuel. Is there any easy way of getting more power out off the engine? The rpm:s are limited to 6000rpm and I would like to get 6500-7000rpm out when I go on asfalt roads to get a bit faster.
Thank you in fore hand!
