tire size question
#2
First off, what machine is this going on??? There aren't many sport quads that I would recommend run 22" tires (I say this from practical experience).
Second, you have a lot of leway with tire sizes, but as the tire gets wider, it is nice to also have wider rims. That is why the first thing I do with a new quad is ditch the stock 9X8" rims (and tires), and replace them with ITP rims that are 9X9" and have a greater offset than stock. This along with wider tires, can make the quad as much as 3-4" wider, for a lot of extra stability without having to buy an new axle.

willl 22x12.5x9 tires fit a 9in rim that had stock 20x10x9 tires on it?</end quote></div>
Yes, they will fit right on your rims. Also you'll want to re-gear by going down at least one sprocket tooth in the front to accomodate the extra tire height.

If you run a lot of rocky, rooted, and rutted(is that a word?) trails I would say 22"s would be best all around to give you that extra ground clearance, but you would definitely need to re-gear. I would go down 2 teeth in the front.

i have a yfz450, what size tires do you suggest running?</end quote></div>
The YFZ is a light little quad, so it deserves light tires! Don't get anything big and clunky. I would pick something like ITP Holeshots, 21 or 22" front/20" rear.
