Does Yamaha or anyone else have a fix for the carburetor problems on this machine? If it sets for a month or so, I have to run Seafoam thru it and drive it quite a ways to get it running correctly. It just won't idle and when you're traveling, and let off the gas, it backfires. The machine only has 200 miles on it. I wish it had fuel injection! Any help appreciated.

 

is it the Mikuni carb? those things are pure ****. my 99 big bear has one of the mikuni carbs and it is getting replaced with an edlebrock in feb. i am tired of this piece of **** mikuni.

 

Check the carb carrier pipe . It's the rubber one that is attached between your intake and the carb . If it is cracked or not all the way on she will run rich and backfire etc . I bumped mine recently and even looked at it but didn't notice it wasn't quite on snug and when I did she has purred every since .
