06 800 sportsman prob's
#1
I'm new on this site and am looking for some answers. My sportsman has started to experience some of the prob's I have been reading about. I'm dealing with the melted plastic but have drawn a blank on these other 2 issues. As the Po gets warmer that infamous knocking starts to get extremely loud by the right side footwell. On top of this, the warmer it gets, I lose all of my top end power. I'll go to hit the gas, and it starts to make a god-awful loud noise and just doesn't want to go anywhere. I was having a problem with this last year, and switched out to a higher heat rating on my spark plugs. Whether it was this or not, the problem went away, and has now returned as of last week. The noise came back full force and as I was whipping down a road, the extremely loud noise came up again and wouldn't let me get anywhere close to full throttle before cutting out. I have googled the problem and seen such a wide array of responses on the knocking, but nothing on the extreme loss of power that is going along with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to just take it in, but try and do all maintenance myself as I am budget crunched at the moment and deer season is around the corner. Sorry so long, and I'm looking forward to some help.

is this stock, does it still have good compression? was it runnig rich as to why you ran a hotter plug? wondering if its a lack of fuel related issue. check the plugs to see if its running lean. i know some have had the clutches knock(left side foot well) but havent heard of power loss due to this.
