Default Sportsman 500 S/N Help

Just bought a '98 or '99 Sportsman 500 from a friend of a friend of a friend. Anyway, it has been sitting in his garage for several years and I got a darn good deal on it.

Question is, I need to get some parts and I nor he knows the year model.?!?!

S/N I can read is:

4XACH50A6V

I have tried to find this info all over and I can't find anything conclusive....any help?

Thanks!

the 10th number/letter is the year of the bike. i think jumbo frank has the number/letter scale(since yours is a "V" instead of a number) to telll you what year it is. or take the vin to the dealer and they can tell you if your buying parts there.

If the ATV has a mechanical cable operated rear foot brake its a 96 or 97 in 98 the switched to a hydraulic rear foot brake.

They also have no CV joints but use U joints. If you grease them every other very wet ride they do hold up rather well ,if you neglect them get ready to be a master u joint changer.

That website is right. It's a '97. Mine had a mechanical foot brake on it. The hand brakes were hydraulic, front and rear.
