Water Problems - Polaris Scrambler 500 08'
#1
I have had my Polaris Scrambler 500 08 for about a month now. The last two times out I have had difficulties when riding through water. If I go into deeper water, water seems to be getting into something and causing a loss of power. The engine stays on, but when the throttle is pushed it is inconsistent. It will rev, but wont reach up to a higher end. After about 20 minutes it dries out and the ATV runs normal with full power. Any suggestions on what I can do? I have tightened many of the screws as they were very loose. I also tightened the several of the clamps. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

take all of your connections loose and spray dielectric grease in them. also if you go into the water with a big splash, when you get to the other side put the bike in neutral and rev the motor a little bit for a few minutes. that lets any water that got in the clutch housing to dry out. sometimes water gets in there and lets to belt slip.

Learn to hit water slow you can haul butt with a CVT or it gets the belt wet.If done right you can go through and fairly deep water.

So it is all about the speed that I enter the water? If flying into the water then the water gets sucked up into the the clutch cover area? Anything else I can do to prevent this problem?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.

either learn to deal with it or build a snorkle kit.But remember these are ATVs not jet skis

I have owned other ATV's without this problem and have rode ATV's for years without this problem. Riding the same exact way as I have the past two times out. Also, the people I am riding with aren't having the problem, and I am not riding any different from them. I also realize they are not jet skis, but they should also not be a sponge.

I was having the same problem with mine. Anytime I went through water more than about 6" deep with any speed at all my belt would get wet. It seems this is a problem with Scramblers because of the location of the vent for the CVT. If you look where it comes out, it's right above the tire so water just gets thrown in there. Here's what I came up with, it's a piece of pool suction hose and a rubber sewer pipe fitting called a "hub donut." I was out this weekend and I was going through water up to the fenders and didn't get the belt wet at all.
