Tires for a 2008 trx 420
#2
For mostly trail and some mud, I would look at Bighorns. They are radial and people say they wear like iron and handle very well...
Since the Rancher's biggest draw is it's handling, I don't think I'd go too big, to not mess that up. Maybe 25 inchers...
Terra Cross would be another radial that has a more open tread, and could also be a good choice.

i have a 2007 420 rancher, i would say go with a radial tire, improves the ride and bump steer and traction, all around. i bought duro powergrips a radial knock off of the maxis bighorn, same tread pattern, but will save you some money, there 279.00 dollars shipped to your door for a set of 25,s from rocky mtn atv, i have had excellent results with these tires.

I put a set of 26" Mudlites on my 07 Rancher 4x4, it handles mud very well, but took away the sweet handling of the stock tire set-up.

A set of Bearclaws like on the Recon in the photo would probably give the Rancher a better ride.

Be careful! My personal experience is that putting huge tires on Ranchers, ruins their sweet handling manners, and turns them into a slug!
