2005 Rancher ES Gear Indicator Blank???
#1
Everything else works on the dash and I have a new battery. I live 30 miles from the dealer and would prefer to fix it myself, dealer was no help over the phone. I cant imagine there are very many options as to what the problem is, light bulb? Loose wire (where to look?). The green neutral light works and the reverse red light works and it shifts fine. The only thing not working is the gear indicator. Can anyone help. Thanks.

im sorry i read it wrong, most people say its blinking and dont know what that means. so the rest of the display: trip, odo, spedo, all work fine, just the upper left gear indicator is blank? not --? that sounds like a sensor

Did you ever figure this one out? The battery in my wifes 2006 Rancher ES died so I replaced it today, after being dead for about 5 months. My gear display is blank but every other light and and shifting works fine. It's just the gears that don't display.

I had to buy a new speedometer, thats exactly what happened to mine, battery went dead and when it came back on no gear selector. It was over $300 for the new one installed.

Here are the tests for the gear position switch but if the neutral & reverse lights are working then it sounds like the display is faulty ..
