Default rocket brand racing fuel???

well the guy i bought this fourwheeler off of ran vp 103 octane. since i have to drive a good distance to get vp i havent been running racing fuel i have just been putting premium in it. I am running a 10:1 wiseco piston. and i just found a place not to far away that carries rocket brand so i figured i would give it a try.

With only 10:1 you can easily use 93. You make less power when you use more octane than you need.

Yes. Unless you have very high comp (12:1 and up) you have no need for anything over 93. High octane does not make power if you don't need it. The octane rating is used to determine the fuel's resistance to detonation. The higher the number, the slower it burns and the less likely it is to detonation. When you use a higher octane than you need you WILL make less power because it burns slower.

That's why I asked.
With only a 10 to 1, I would even put 87 in it. Like sprayedgt said, your not even close to race gas with this engine.

Depending on where your timing is you may get away with 89. But I wouldn't try anything lower.

I can promise you that if you put it on a dyno you made less power. If it felt better it was because it was burning cleaner. Engine's need to be cleaned internally once in a while. I hydro clean my engine (street cars, drags cars, street bike, and both ATV's) every 50hrs just to get the carbon out, clean the top of the piston, combustion chamber, and back of the valves.
