Default 94 sportsman 400 balance shaft issues

I need new bearings on my counter balance shaft. If possible, I'd love to just get a used shaft with bearings on them to replace my whole unit.

My questions:
1. How do I get the old bearings off of my unit
2. Does anyone have a used shaft they'd be willing to part with?

Thanks for any help I could get.

i believe you have to have a puller to get the counterbalance out of the crankcase (not 100% on that tho) and then you need a press to replace the bearings. i would look on ebay for a whole assembly if you just wanted one already put together.

I made a puller and got it out nicely. The bearings have some rust surrounding them (on the seal of the bearing itself), so I thought it wise to replace them if possible.
Do you know the part number for the bearings? There is a listing on ebay for one, but I'm waiting to hear what the seller will take for it.

you could try taking the bearings into a bearing house to see if they can match them up. the parts diagram only shows the counter balance as a complete unit

That's what I noticed too. I checked on the bikebandit website and the polaris schematics website. They only list it as one "balancer" unit.

Thanks for the help. I'll see what I can do elsewhere.
