4x4 not working in forward olny reverse
#1
Hey,
My 4X4 will only work in reverse, it works perfect in reverse, when i put it into gear to go forwards, no light no nothing. I have just replaced my rear anxle on the left side? 4X4 was working perfect prior to the anxle being replaced. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks

Rear driveshaft wont have any thing to do with awd, probably selector switch in shift box responsible for no awd in forward especially if awd light not on. Try low range also and PUSH a little harder on shift lever,if awd lights up then switch worn. Switch can wear and not make full contact usually in hi range (most people use this the most) in low makes better contact, reverse almost never a problem.Part of it is switch wear and possible internal shift box lever wear at the same time. I have had a bunch of these over the years. Good Luck

is it a eazy fix? how much is a new one? is there a way to get around it</end quote></div>
Must take shift box apart, have to be a little careful since has spring pressure. You will see switch, replace with redesigned switch follow wires into terminal board rehook up,good time to change oil also, fill to where oil barely covering internal shift arms(on the older models 5-30/10-40 sufficent
