Default Sportsman Rear Suspension

On my Sportsman 700 I have a sag on the right rear side, with the wheel slightly tilted out. When I lift the machine up a little from the rear everything stands straight up. Are there bolts that are possible loose that should be tightened when the wheels are true to the frame, sort of like a car alignment. Thank You.

The only adjustment is the pre-load adjusters on the springs. It could be possible that one side is set soft and the other side is set more stiff but I'm still not sure it would cause what you're describing. Kinda sounds like something is broke to me.

Speaking of this, I read prior threads where people said you DO NOT need
a spanner wrench to adjust the springs. What tool would you use? I want
to bring my Rear springs up a notch and test out the ride.

alot of people use a set of big channel lock pliers. check the shock to make it didnt let go and still works right. big R make sure you take the weight off the bike before you try to turn the adjusters as it will be alot easier. imo.

I used a pair of vise grips to adjust mine. Just set them to be just tight enough to grab the adjuster. It also works better if you lift the rear tires off the ground with a jack to take some of the tension off the springs. I've also used the spanner with a pipe over the handle to give it a little more torque. WD-40 the area where the notches in the adjuster are also to make it a little easier.

Wonderful thanks for all the great info. JC,Stendori,MH!
Incidentally, what are all your rear spring settings on if I may ask?
I hadn't changed mine since I bought it, obviously, lol.

Thx,

Well, on the X2 they are heavier sprung than the Sportsman. I have mine set 1 setting heavier than the softest. The rear rack on the X2 is rated for 400 lbs. It evened out the front to rear line a little bit. It still rides a little bit up in the front. Maybe an inch.
