flywheel ceased
#1
ok....i have a 99 polaris sport 400...the flywheel has ceased up...and this caused the starter to be mangled. now....fly wheel will not turn at at...any suggestions>(how it happen) reverse has never worked....tryed puttin it in reverse last time rode and hats when it would not start up at all after that.

do you mean the motor will not turn over at all or you can not get the flywheel off the crank? the reverse could just me a misalignment. try uplugging the black wire on the rev limiter box.

nothing will turn over....if you try to start it would make a single attempmt to crank..and when this happen it mangled the starter.. we took the cover off, and tryed to turn the flywheel manually...will not budge, and had to remove the starter caus it was destroyed

sounds like you have a froze piston. time to take the jug off the motor. if you can not get the crank to roll then you need to tear the motor all the way down and replace crank bearings.
dont see how the reverse gear would cause any of this because its two seperate mechanical entities.

The flywheel is connected to the crank shaft ,the crank shaft is conected to the piston rod the piston rod is connected to the piston. If motor is seized,so is the flywheel.
