electrical problem with polaris 335 sportsman 4x4
#1
My younger brother took a battery starter/charger and hooked it up to my polaris 335 four wheeler!!!! all electrical components no longer; nothing, you have to pull start it, no lights at all, no four wheel drive!!! what could he have done? I don't have the money to trial/error....any suggestions? he said that a little puff of smoke came from the headlight area. with that being said could it be a module? I know that this particular years 335 4x4 had no FUSE to help regulate. the four wheeler is a 2000 335 sportsman 4x4.....any help would be greatly appreciated adn respected!!! thanks....

Could have hooked charger up backwards? You have 2 fuses, one 20 amp main fuse in a sealed pouch by battery, and 15 amp under front cover for fan. They are designed to reset,BUT anything can happen, plus check battery, and all modules under front cover for wires or module melting.Plus there is a regulator rectifier at very front that could be affected also. One step at a time on electrical. Good luck

i agree he either hooked up the charger backwards or dead shorted the cables to ground causing it to fry something. the god news if its still runs he didnt damage the statetor. did he put it on the say 50 amp boost part of the charger to overload it? start by finding the breakers that he mentioned and check them out.

I really don't know what setting he had it on or if they were reversed or what?! If it was overloaded wehre would i start? i don't think that this model had fuses. I think this is the only year they did that. just my luck I just need to get it fixe so I can sell it this summer if I don't get back to work by then. thanks in advance
