The last time I rode this atv it ran fine about a week ago. Today I went to ride it and it wouldnt start. Spins over fine no spark. I tried a new spark plug still no spark. I pulled the spark plug connector off the coil wire and spun the motor and there is no spark from the coil wire to ground. I was told that the coil wire could be pinched so I pulled it back and out. It was tight but not pinched anywhere I could see. Any down and dirty way of checking this thing out? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

welocme. did you try pulling this over by hand or just w/ the starter? sometimes (stupid as it may sound) the battery doesnt have enough juice to fire the coil and the starter. try it w/ the pull cord to see if it has fire at leaste to rule that out.

 

The battery is new and charged. Ive spun it over with and without the spark plug installed, no spark. Its spins over very strongly but thanks for the idea.

 

I guess I should have done a search before asking this question as I see it has already been answered many times. My recoil starter was full of water also the garter spring on the starter bendix was apart. After testing the stator that appears to be the problem. Where is the best place to buy a stator or have mine rebuilt? OEM is high, like $350.00!
