Idles fine but then a stumble
#1
I just picked up a 05 Sportsman 500ho, 124 miles it has been sitting for a while so I cleaned the carb (pilot jet was gummed up) Now it will start up fine and it idles great. when I give it gas it dies out, Almost sounds like its starving for fuel I play with the throttle and keep "pumping" back and forth and it will clear up after a min or so. All is well after that. It did the same thing after two cold starts. I also checked the throttle cable adjustment but I'm unsure of what it should really be set at, I have so there is about an 1/8" space between the contact on top of the thumb throttle. Please advise on what to check. Thanks

I did put in new gas, I didn't flush the tank. If it were the plug or filter would the problem go away after a min or so? I also looked at the vent tube, Blew into it and it seemd ok. What else could be wrong in the carb? Thanks for the speedy reply

maybe change the fuel filter as well and did you completely clean all the fuel passages as well as the jets? this would be a cause. make sure filt is clean(most likely is).

Yes all the jets were removed and cleaned. All Fuel passages were sprayed with carb cleaner to make sure they were unobstructed. Then everything was blown with compressed air. The fuel filter is original and might be one of the problems. I'll order a filter and a new plug just to be sure. Thanks
