2003 330 trailboss front sproket
#1
Ok.. So a friend and I were riding ATVs today. He was on my Polaris and hit a small bump, gunned it to pop the front end and all I here is a loud click and him saying "WTF HAPPENED??!??!"
Come to find out my front sproket broke, slipped, fell off.. Im not exactly sure.. I have the service manual and it doesnt show a pic of the spoket and how it should look when installed properly. However it does show the sprocket and some type of nut that holds it on...
Well there is only about an inch or so of a metal piece for this to sit on, the teeth is only on the outer 1/4 inch, I have not seen this "nut" and I do not believe that both of them woudl fit even though it it needed.
Can someone give me a clue as to what I am actually suppose to do with this... I can work on ATVs, bikes, and cars no problem.. So if you can get me a pic or tell me what I am in need of doing, I can do it.. And would greatly apreciate it.
Thanks

Takes an 11 tooth sprocket and a snap ring that sits in a groove on the shaft to hold it in. Probably broke the snap ring which could have let the sprocket slide too far.

Yep, sounds like the snap ring left the building. Check the case for any damage the chain might have caused too.
The parts diagram will help a lot. And the manual. But, I just looked through my Trail Boss service manual, and they were very lacking in that department.
But I've changed the front sprocket on mine, and it's a very easy job. You may want to check the rear sprocket for wear, and replace the chain.
Got a really good deal on all three for mine from a seller on ebay that goes by sledpartsguy. Very good price as well.

Here's a link to a parts diagram. As far as ordering from this particular company, I never have. Just the site has my dads name, so it's easy for me to remember.
