I disconnected my speedometer because it drained my battery, speedometer does not work, I understand a broken speedo will not allow awd to engage. Is this so? and if so does anyone know where I can pick up a new speedo less expensive than the guy here in Columbia has them. Thank you.

 

That is correct awd will not work if speedo isn't working. Sometimes you can find them on ebay otherwise Babbitts

 

why is the speedo draining the battery? shouldnt be any power to the speed. when the key isnt on.

 

I have know idea, I cut key off and speedo lite was still burning, got tired of it killing my battery and I unplugged, plugged back in a few months later and nothing on speedo works, has water or condensation in it.

Try putting it in a pot full of dry rice for 24 hours. That will get all the moisture out of it. If the moisture is .the problem, then that may fix it.
