[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img] need to know if timing marks go crossways with the head or if they go straight up & & down can someone please help me

i have a mojave 2001 and the timing marks on the cam gear r up 12 o clock make but i forget if the piston needs to be down or up
