the timing chain slipped and hit the piston.so i had to replace the valves and chain. well when i replaced the valves the first time the quad was atleast trying to start. it would sputter then cut out. so i pulled the head again to see how the valves were seating. the werent seating to well so i had to do some more hand laping. now it wont even try to start. i think im not getting it timed right. so if anyone can help please do.

Make sure the flywheel is on the T mark for top dead center. The cam sprocket will have 3 lines on it. 1 points up the other 2 line up with the top of the head and the lines face out away from cam. Also make sure the flywheel key did not break.

When the T through the eyelet is there, Thats top dead on compression i believe, Its the correct one. Then align the timing marks up on the head as Loshe said.. The lobes of the cam will then be pointed down. Get it as close to level as possible with the head.. it won't be exact, but pretty close.. Mine is set a touch forward because thats as close as they would line up.
