you say its "poping" aye? like a hesitation/cough at low throttel or idol? or a backfire?
if its at low throttel you need to bump up your pilot jet, your running a little lean there. pilot jet should be a little brass skrew on the bottom of your carb, turn it OUT 1/4 turn at a time.
had the poping problem on my foreman when i snorkled it, pilot jet adjustment did the trick.

i would not think the jrt is bad, but it may need a cleaning. take out the skrew needle, o-rings, and spacer. clean that and the pilot jet hole thoroughly with carb cleaner to remove any gunk. cleaning the rest of the carb would be a good idea as well
have you modded the air box atall? if so you may need to get a larger size pilot jet...i had to step up from a 45 to a 50

cleaned jet but not the whole carb going to try that in the morning. top is off of air box and i'm running a 148 jet. Going to change to 170 or 175 cause i just rebuit the motor to a 426.

ahh that yould explain your pop. you have alot more air flow now since the lid is off. my guess would be a #40 pilot, mabe a 45 would do you better
