I have a 2001 recon and was wondering what i could do to it to make more power. the less expensive the better. would gutting the muffler be a good idea???? I have heard of simple mods like k&N kits, any others?

Supertrapp IDS2 & FMF both make aftermarket pipes for the Recon. K&N jet kit & air filter kit should help also.

I saw a Recon at Sand-lake over christmas that you be in shock over. It was keeping up with the sport bikes pretty good!! It was actually a guys wifes bike. It had some easy bolt on you could do. It had a white-bros' pipe or supertrap, a K&N filter, a white-bros cam, and a porting job done by Powerroll. The rev-limiter was removed(I don't know if Powerroll did this), and a heavy duty auto-clutch and springs(I think it was EBC). It had an aftermarket piston too but the guy said it was only .30 over. The thing moved too!!
Good luck, it's a HONDA!
