04 sportsman 400 idle speed?

Default 04 sportsman 400 idle speed?

Just wondering what would be a normal idle speed? Mine idles warmed up at about 1350 rpm Thanks

Just lower the idle adjuster down a tad. Most carb model 400/500s idled around 1080-1150 rpms.

thanks what would the idle adjuster be ? What looks like a wheel on the carb? I do see that on the carb

Default 05 polaris ticking

i got a ticking in my 05 portsman 400. is it normal for it to have a ticking.

Normal to have a little ticking since the valves have .006 clearance and will make a little noise. You might check clearance along with any cam chain slack.Plus sometimes the drive clutch itself if guide buttons are worn can radiate sound to where you think it's from the engine.

I hear a slight tick in my 400 although i do think its normal noise.Sounds pretty much the same cold or at normal temp.

Thanks i dropped my idle right down to about 1100.I also notice it seems to shift better now to !
