Default Need Immediate help!!! 08 YFZ 450 Problem

I installed a set of ROX Risers to my bars and did everything by the book. They are supposed to be the highest you can install without having to lengthen any cables. The Pro's that I put on were supposed to raise the bars 1 1/8" or so I think. I installed them, jacked up the machine, started the machine and moved the bars left and right with no problems.

About a hour or so into my first ride with the higher bars, the machine started to bog out in the corners and eventually died completely. It would start fine but as soon as the clutch was released, it would die every time. This machine hasn't even had 2 tanks of gas through it yet.

Today, my buddy was loading it up to go drop it off at the dealer and decided to give it a quick try. It ran perfectly with no problems at all. I let the service manager know about this when it was dropped off. It has to be something electrical. We first thought it would be the neutral safety switch but now I really believe it was something to do with me putting the risers on the bars. The dealer said it could be the parking brake safety switch. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions because without it doing it at the shop, I am screwed. Nothing worse than having no confidence while out riding a brand new machine.

Thanks in advance!

Jeff

If its still under warranty let the stealership deal with it. Just make sure you dont give them any money. Stalling into the corners instantly like you describe sounds like it would have to be electrical. Not sure on the YFZ, but if it has a clutch switch that tells the comp when the clutch is engaged I would look into that. See if it stalls out in gear when you turn the bars and pull the clutch.

Has the dealership figured it out yet? if not, i had the same problem with my '06 and found out that there is a switch inside the throttle housing that gets stuck sometimes. i think it was called the TPS (throttle position sensor) but not 100% sure!

It ended up being the parking brake safety switch. I think when I put the new risers on the bars it was just enough to make the parking brake cable it little too tight. The dealer said the switch inside there was a litte loose. It made sense since the parking brake was the one thing we didn't mess with when it broke down but then it was locked twice while loaded in the truck then it ran fine. So problem solved. Thanks for the help.
