Default Idle problem with 500 EFI 2x only when hot???

I have a brand new Sportsman 500 EFI 2x and having trouble with it.

After it gets hot (driving it for an hour), it does not idle well. When I come to a stop to switch gears, it will die. Then it is difficult to start. Some times I turn the key and nothing happens (starter does not engage). Sometimes it will start but is difficult. Sometimes I have to give it a little gas while I start... but this also will cause it to backfire.

My only solution when it is like this is to let it sit for about 3 to10 minutes and then it will start up.

I have no complaints about the machine when it is runs for 30 minutes or less.

I took it back to the dealer and they could not repeat the problem. I dont think they took the time to run it for an hour before they tested it. They said they made some adjustment and that would probably fix it.

They were wrong.

Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do?

My 08 800 was starting to do the same thing. I tightened up the throttle cable and then switched the spark plugs. I went with NGK. The stock champion plugs are crap IMO. It's been running great since, I probably have about 100 miles on it since. No problems.

The T-BAP sensor wiring is a very likely culprit!

make sure the etc is set right on the throttle. maybe cable is stretched but would think the dealer would have checked it as well.

I realize this is an old post - but I thought I would post a follow up in case anybody has the same symptoms.

I also simply tightened up the throttle cable and this fixed my occasional stalling and hard starting issue.
