Question 94 400L Stator Replacment Question

IM working on replacing the stator in my 1994 400L Rebuild project. Ive got the pull starter and everything off and got the old stator off but i need to take the casing it was attached to to get the wires in the slot. There seems to be a key or some sort of nut on the crankshaft that needs to come off to get the casing off. Any idea if thats right or how to get it off? I can get pictures if i must.

just push the wires through the cutout and install the grommet carefully with a small screwdriver. You don't need to pull that case off.
