Default 97 xplorer 500 ball joint

I installed new ball joints today. Took the wheeler for a ride and noticed that turning to the right was harder and handlebar didnt turn as far to the right after new ball joints installed. I pushed the handlebar to the right with a little more force and the left hand ball joint broke! Did i over tighten my ball joint nut too much or defect in ball joint? ball joints installed were from moose racing part number 42-1030. Any thoughts??

Possible that you had it too tight and snapped, also is a-arm in good shape and not bent? Never have had a new one break before, but I use OEM parts,BUT MOOSE makes good products! We sell quite a few heavy duty tubes, etc from MOOSE. Could have been just a freak thing.

Everything seems straight and in good shape. I have new ball joint on order, wont tighten as much next time. Thanks for the help.

Any idea on what the torque is supposed to be? My haynes book tells me everything but that. Thanks
