Default 04 YFZ450 seems to be running hot. Is that normal?

I just finished changing plug, oil and flushing radiator. I'm a little confused because the manual says the capacity of the cooling system is 1.3L (.29 is in reservoir) but I couldn't get the full 1.0L in the radiator. I buttoned it up and started it and after about 5 minutes idling I shut it down and everything was very hot.

Is the high temp normal? The fan didn't kick on. I could barely touch the hose.

Should I be able to get the full 1.0L into the system after it get's through motor?

At what temp does the the fan kick on?

Thanks...

The air has to work its way out of the coolant system. It will take a few rides.

Or you could pruge the system which is when you purposly overheat the bike a little to force the air out.

Keep your res full and the air will work its way out.
