Noobie Needing Help Not getting spark!
#1
I'll been searching the fourm for 3 days and can't find an answer the makes me tingle all over. A little back round first, I bought a early 9X's Polaris Bigboss 400 2 stroke. I was told the bike hasn't been started in atleast 3 years because it has no back brakes. First things I have done is Soaked and cleaned the carb(like new now) Replaced the gas and cleaned tank and replaced fuel filter and new spark plug. Ran perfect!(execpt had to shut it off to get it out 4 Low
) . Well rode about 40-50 hours with out any major problems just sometimes the key would not shut it off neither would the kill switch and when that happened it would run like complete crap. I had to unplug the CDI and replug it in th and it would run fine and turn off again with key and switch it also did great in the mud untill I burried it in almost 5 foot of mud and water( I would have made untill I high centered and was just spining not touching anything
Did i tell you a f150 got stuck in the hole directly before I tried it LOL I had to get pulled out buy the same guys the pulled out the f150) . My wife had to pull me back to camp I cleaned out plug and let a little mud spit out the top and went back out riding hitting very hole I could and did fine untill I pulled up to the wash station and it died and would not start on the push button start(tried crossing the senloid and still would not turn). At the time I did not have a pull rope on it. Got it pulled to camp again!
Took it home and cleaned the plug again and it ran, took it up the street and the way back it just died Would not start hit the button and just clicked. SO I decided to but a pull rope in it. Removed the side cover and it poured out mud and water Dope! tried to spray everything out with air put it back to toghter and I'm not getting any spark when I pull the cord. I've took apart the kill switch and cleaned it. took the coil pack to polaris and it tested good. I tested the wire going to the coil pack from the cdi and its jumping into negtive volts like -7 or some thing like that. weird i know. got acdi from a newer bike and still does nothing but has a green wire and don't have anywere to put it so i hooked it to red because the figrams show them going same place. Been reading some threads that say it might be a startor. But I'm in need of advice. Thanks Mike I can give my number if you wanna call me.

ok got to testing from the book it says test exciter black/red to red should be 226 ohms. Well none! 0 Ohms even when trying to start. tested pulser 97 ohms on the dot. So.. What is exactly the exciter? is it the whole stator? please i'm stupid and so lost

OK status up date. I have replaced the complete stator(80 dollars on ebay) now its ohm 23x and replaced the cdi with one off newer bike but it has a green wire that my old one does not have. When I check the coil pack it is grounded everywere both sides and were the cdi plugs is in this correct? still won't start!
