rear tire size

Default rear tire size
why is it that all the sport atv's i see the front tires are taller than the backs??.. and can you run a taller tire or the same height tire on the rear??

The jet 250 the rear is taller but inso doing it gears the ratio higher. I have tried my 150's tires on the 250 and like the lower gearing but love the ride much better with the Hole shot 250's!
