Default 02 Warrior guzzling oil!?!?!!?

Well my warrior has sure become a pig on oil the last few times I've taken it out. When I first fire it up cold and on the choke, it pours a nice poof of blue smoke out of the exhaust and oil consumption seems to be getting worse each time I take it out. I have to wonder if the previous owner dumped in a bottle of 'mechanic in a can' to help with the oil consumption when he sold it to me because it never poured blue like this when I first bough it it earlier this year. When running, when someone rides close behind me they tell me they can sometimes see a small amount of blue smoke comming from my pipe and get a nasty wiff of it. Plus my side case seals look to be leaking because the bottom of the motor is wet with oil and it's oil damp looking around the bottoms of the side case. I really didn't want to have to pull this motor apart but I will probably have to because I needed to add 1/2 quart of oil after two hours of trail riding. But other than that it starts up super easy and runs like a champ. I wonder if my oil is getting washed down with fuel from worn rings making my leak and oil consumption problem even worse?

So before I yank the cylinder, order a new gasket set, ring set and hit it with ye olde 3-stone hone, is there anything special I need to know before going into this? I've done the hone'n'rering job on my sled before but never on a quad.
