I can tell you, Don't get larger than stock if you plan to do some real mudding. I had a stock 99 300FW, I installed a highlifter lift kit and I instaled some ITP Black Waters 25-10-12 front and 26-12-12 rear with alum rims trying to save weight. and I can not tell you the times that the bike did not have the power to turn the tires in deep mud. but if there was a lot of water around it was fine. I would say stay with the stock size tires (hight) and get alum rims to save weight. I think you will be happy.

I've got a 99 Honda 3004x4, and about a year ago i installed some 26x12x12 vamps, and 25x9.5x12 vamps on it to mud. My dealer told me the quad would have enough power to turn them, i just would have to be in first. Boy was he wrong, in some mud they wouldn't turn at all. About two months after that, i purchased a lift kit, and a highlifter performance kit, and it woke the quad right up. Now i can spin the tires fast enough to throw mud up all over the sportsman 500 behind me that just got stuck! Honda forever!

Well I have a 98 300 4x4 with stock tires but the
honda shop has alot of 300 4x4 with 24x9 on the front & 25x12.5 on the back with no moter mods.I have rode them & they bog down faster in heavy mud but there alot heaver than stockers too.

I had a 300 with 25 vamp's on front and 26's on back. It killed the power in sand and deep mud but it made up for it in ground clearance. The difference is great. The traction is also a plus. Do it, but keep your stock tires for those dry summer days. Only other problem I had was that I would wear out wheel bearings a little faster.

you may want to look at a different brand which is not as heavy...possibly tsl super swampers or mud runners. Almost any aftermarket mud tire will give you far superior traction over the stockers.

I have a 1999 300 4x4 with 25 inch rear vamp and 24 inch vamp front. Works well did not hurt power very much. the 25 and 26 inch are to much but 25 and 24 work well Helped ground clearance. Vampires are the same size they say they are so a 25 inch is 25 inches. Later put a k&n kit in and gained all the power back that I lost with the biger tire's. Go for the vamps you will love them they are wild in sticky deep mud .... what once you could not go through now you can go ...
got mine through cawood tires and they have all different sizes go to cawoodtires.com or cawoodtire.com you will be inpressed.

realoldguy good luck
