on my post dealing with synthetic oil i alluded to my rear diff leaking. my dealer told me that the leak was not serious enough to worry about as long as it didn't make a puddle after it was parked. i rode it hard this past weekend and no puddle showed up. the dealer said to keep an eye on it and keep adding oil whenever needed and if something goes wrong ac will replace it free.

Great dealer service. Sounds like my dealer too. This is one of the reasons I bought AC. Only 6 mo. warranty (i bought in fall and wouldn't get much use thru the winter) and they said they would "look after me" for 1 year.

 

No offence to your dealer but if you had a oil leak under your rear-dif. of a new truck,I bet you would want it fixed.I had the same leak.It started at 600miles,only a little at first.I found that if you would ride on long(3 to 4 miles)
WOT,then more of a top up would be required.AS you said your dealer would take care of you ,I hope that it means the possibility of a new rear diff,because if oil is getting out then dirt /crud is getting in.Since I had mine replaced I had no top-up required and I have over 600 miles on it with the new seals.

actually, much to my amazement, i removed the level plug and found that no more oil leaked out even after a hard riding weekend like i had. i am using a 80w-90 marine lower unit gear oil and it works flawlessly.

It is a good sign when you do not have to add any oil to your rear diff.There is a little amount of grease that is behind the rear drive-shaft seal,I was told that it is put there when the machine is manufactured.Some of this grease may squeeze out when good and warm,dut no cause for alarm,because it is there mainly for new running break-in period.
